I have a new mobile number…

Q) When you’ve had the same phone number forever, and then you change it, how should you best go about the process of informing everyone who needs to know?

A) I don’t have the slightest inkling of an idea. We’re sort of past the age of sending out mass e-mails, aren’t we? After all, I don’t even know the majority of the people in my e-mail address books.

Anyway, the point is, I finally decided to get a new mobile number. I thought it might be nice to have one with an area code that accurately reflected where I currently live. If you’d like the number, kindly send a request via e-mail, or simply call me on my old number, which will be active for another two weeks or so.

My wife and I got into a mini-spat about what number to choose for our new Skype-In number. I was aiming for a number that would mean something in Chinese, like 2882-5252, which, if said in a certain way kind of sounds like “hungry daddy hungry, I’m hungry I’m Hungry” – which also happens to be the number of Taipei Pizza Hut. Even though I could chose any area code I wanted (almost), I couldn’t quite make it work. In the end, my wife decided that we should chose the exact area code for the place we actually lived in, so I kind of gave up on having something meaningful and went with the easiest to remember digit sequence.

I know this wasn’t the advice you were looking for. But now you can order a pizza in Taiwan; that’s worth something, isn’t it?
