Formerly a music editor for the Pittsburgh City Paper, Dan is currently based in Philadelphia, where he works as an independent journalist, primarily covering small business and entrepreneurship, alternative sex and relationship issues, and independent travel. His work has appeared in the Daily Telegraph (UK), Houston Chronicle, Miami Herald, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Paste, Next American City, Philadelphia Weekly, Seattle Magazine, Resonance, Tango, Giant Robot, Transitions Abroad, Punk Planet, LonelyPlanet.com, KeystoneEdge.com, Mediabistro, MSN, AOL, and many other national and international publications.
He is a co-author of Lonely Planet guidebooks to Turkey, Southeast Asia and New England, and he's currently working on the second edition of Moon Handbooks Pittsburgh (Avalon Travel), which was nominated for a Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award in its first edition.
Dan's most recent entrepreneurial project is the relaunch of Young Pioneers as a bi-monthly magazine about creative and alternative entrepreneurs. The premiere issue will feature a wide assortment of unusually creative entrepreneurs, including Johnny Cupcakes, Dan Pink, Broke-Ass Stuart, Johnny Temple, and tons more.
